ROTW – The Beat – Tears of a Clown

The first and only release by The Beat on Two Tone records, “Tears of a Clown” was a skanked-up cover of the 1967 Tamala Motown hit by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. A double A-side with “Ranking Full Stop“, it was released in December 1979 and reached number 6 in the UK charts. Rude Boys and Girls danced all the way through Christmas and into the New Year and Skankers everywhere still find it impossible not to jig-it-up when The Beat goes on ………

PS. Check out the “Ranking Full Stop link for a great clip from “Dance Craze”
