ROTW – The Skids – Circus Games

Searching around in one of our still unpacked boxes I discovered another stack of 7″ singles and came across this 1980 gem. How good were The Skids! Following on the tail of such classics as “Into The Valley”, “Charade” and “Working For The Yankee Dollar”  (great clip on the Old Grey Whistle Test) “Circus Games” finds style guru and Man of Tweed, Richard Jobson in fine form, hair gelled down like the bastard son of Roger Moore and Rob Brydon. The sadly missed Stuart Adamson, who passed away in 2001, employs his trademark ‘guitar as bagpipe’ sound to great effect and before long, this tune had me high-kicking around the kitchen in me tartan trewsers!

NB. Possibly the best use of a school choir since Clive Dunn’s 1971 chart topper, “Grandad“!
