ROTW – The Undertones – You’ve Got My Number (Why Don’t You Use It)

Was 1979 pop music’s finest year? There was so much great stuff released this year and here’s a classic example. Fergal Sharkey looks like he’s straight from teaching a geography class, backed by a few Bay City Roller fans!

The band’s questionable fashion sense doesn’t detract from the fact The Undertones were masters of the 3 minute (often less) pop gem: short, fast, and loud, like a good scrum half. “You’ve Got My Number” is a fine example, reminiscent of a sixties superhero theme tune, it’s relentless, catchy and goes out with a bang!

Spoddy Dog!
