Some of you may be familiar with my recent “Beneath The Surface” exhibition, a collection of works focusing on the effect of time and the elements on the hulls of boats. It’s a project I’ve been working on for years and continue to do so. On a recent visit to Coffs Harbour I was thrilled to find a boat yard with several yachts in for repair. Fibre glass and anti-fouling paint provide different qualities to that of wood and steel. The resulting images conjure memories of cave paintings, aboriginal art, abstract expressionism, and maps.
The Coffs images have a character of their own and hold together as geographical collection of new “found paintings”
